Nigeria Police Declares Lady Wanted for Engaging in Bisexual Activities


I just came across this public notice while going through the hard copy of Daily Times of today; Wednesday April 27, 2016.
The Nigeria Police seem to have started enforcing the Nigeria's law on homosexual activities.

As contained in the Nigerian law, homosexual acts involving either men or women attract a 14-year prison term. In addition, a new law, enacted Jan. 7, 2014, provides for prison sentences of 10 years for Nigerians belonging to a gay organization, supporting same-sex marriages, or displaying same-sex affection in public. It also calls for up to 14years imprisonment for any Nigerian who marries a member of the same sex.

The Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act signed into law by Former President Goodluck Ebere Jonathan also criminalizes homosexual clubs, associations and organizations, with penalties of up to 14 years in jail.
In all the 12 Northern States of Nigeria, engaging in homosexual activities attract capital punishment for men, lashing or imprisonment for women in accordance to the Sharia law.
Nigerian law on homosexual activity is codified in Chapter 77 of the Nigeria Criminal Code.
