Emirates Marks 10th Anniversary of Newcastle Operations

Emirates has marked 10 years of operations out of Newcastle International Airport. The airline said it has carried more than 912,000 passengers between Newcastle and Dubai since commencing services on the route in September 2007.
 Emirates said the figures reflect the importance Newcastle City to the United Kingdom.
Recent figures show that over 115,000 passengers travelled between Newcastle and Dubai in the last 12 months.
Emirates has ferried more than 28,000 tonnes of cargo in and out of Newcastle since September, 2017.

The current scarcity and high cost of aviation fuel, coupled with the weak value of the naira have been identified as the main factors preventing the growth of the aviation sector.
