El –Rufai Tours Arik Air Facilities, Expresses Confidence in the Airline

 The Governor of Kaduna State His Excellency has described Aviation facilities at Arik Air‘s Headquarters as very impressive and have further boosted his confidence in the airline.
Governor El-Rufai who disclosed that the visit was aimed discussing possible ways the Kaduna State Government can partner with Arik Air, which is the largest indigenous airline operator in Nigeria urged the airline to consider reintroducing overnight flight to Kaduna “as some of our businessmen have been complaining since you stopped the overnight flight”
Gov. El-Rufai who visited Arik Air’s head office in Lagos on Thursday gave an assurance that the Federal Government’s transportation policy was geared towards the growth of the industry and job creation.
He also called on Arik Air to introduce air shuttle service between Kaduna and Abuja noting that though the distance between Abuja and Kaduna is short, it offers great potentials.
The Governor who assured the airline of a conducive business environment said “We are trying as a state government to improve our economic environment by eliminating multiple-taxation by appointing a single agency to collect taxes on behalf of the state, our visit is to further reassure you that we will continue to create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive,’’
The Deputy Managing Director, Arik Air, Capt. Ado Sanusi, in his response said the overnight service was stopped due to adverse weather conditions and underutilisation of the aircraft which was usually parked idle overnight said “we will look at increasing our capacity to Kaduna, it a very is important route for Arik Air. It is one of the routes we started immediately the airline was formed’’.
According to Capt Sanusi, Arik Air will look at various ways to facilitate mutually beneficial partnership with the Kaduna State Government.
 He however appealed to Governor El-Rufai to prevail on the Federal Government to create policies that would support indigenous carriers and also address the infrastructure decay in most airports in the country.
In his contribution, The Chief Commercial Officer of Arik Air; Mr. Suraj Sundaram disclosed that Arik Air flies to most destinations across Nigeria because” as a strong Nigerian Company, we need to serve Nigerians first”.
