Points to Note Before Purchasing Any Airline's Promo Fares

Airlines use promotional or discounted fares to stimulate sales. They are usually available on both business and economy cabins depending on the airline. Promo fares are used to promote sales. However, no matter how cheap an airline fare is, never grab the offer without verifying the terms and conditions applicable to that particular fare. It is common to hear a good number of travelers say something like “give me the cheapest fare” only to come back crying foul when there are issues. So, before you grab that offer, confirm the validity of the ticket you are buying. Some promo fares could be valid for 1 month, 2 months; 3 months et cetera whereas most airlines’ standard fares are valid for 1 year. Airlines Seek 45% Increase in Fares (Guardian)   Government pledges to end aviation fuel scarcity. The current spike in the exchange rate of the dollar to the naira may be taking its toll on the country’s Foreign-exchange-dependent aviation sector as airline operators seek to increase their fares by 45 per cent. The dollar exchange rate, which currently stands at N350, according to the airline operators, has further pushed the cost of running the business beyond them. Some operators told The Guardian that their plight was not helped by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) disapproval of a new air fare regime that should have officially gone up by 45 per cent, to keep pace with the dollar rate. Some airlines, however, appear to have resorted to self-help in raising ticket prices for over-the-counter purchase.
