Panic at Lagos Airport as Security Aide Fires Accidental Gunshot

The ever busy departure hall of the Murtala Mohammed Domestic Airport ;Terminal One
was yesterday afternoon thrown into confusion as a security aide said to be
attached to a top official of the Federal Government accidentally pulled the
trigger of his gun which injured one person and sent other people scampering
for safety.
With the high rate of security threats at airports globally,
the incident which occurred at about
3: 00pm when most
airline passengers were trying to catch their afternoon flight created fear and
confusion as people did not initially know the source of the gunshot.
A staff of one of the airlines who witnessed the incident
everybody in the hall ran for their lives when they heard the gunshot while the
stray bullet hit an elderly man who was trying to purchase a flight ticket.
Another eye witness said that most people in the departure hall
ran for safety and only returned when it was confirmed that the gunshot was an
accidental discharge and not a robbery or terrorist attack as was initially
feared.
Security officials attached to the airport were able to dunce
tension and restore normalcy at the airport while the injured person has been
taken to an undisclosed medical facility for prompt attention.
