Etihad Airways Marks 4 years of Operations in Nigeria

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, this week celebrates the fourth anniversary of the launch of its non-stop services between Lagos and Abu Dhabi in July 2012.
In celebration, the airline had on Monday offered free Wi-Fi access for guests traveling on its flight between Lagos and the airline’s hub in Abu Dhabi.
The free Wi-fly package was supported by the airline’s award-winning in-flight entertainment system, which included over 750 hours of movies, TV shows, documentaries, children’s programmes, music channels and games.
George Mawadri, Etihad Airways’ General Manager in Nigeria, said the airline was delighted to celebrate the milestone and thanked everyone who had contributed to its success.
“We are proud to have carried many thousands of guests to and from Nigeria since we launched our services here four years ago. Nigeria is a very important market, and we are committed to providing our travelers with world class travel experiences, renowned hospitality, and a greater choice of destinations whether they are traveling for business or leisure.
“I would also like to say a big thank you to all our partners in the local travel trade for their tremendous support over the last four years, and look forward to working even closer together in future.”
Etihad Airways currently operates four-times-per-week using an Airbus A330-200 aircraft configured to carry 254 guests, 18 in Business Class and 236 in Economy Class.

Aero Contractors: Temporary Flight Suspension is a Safety Measure Says NCAA

Nigeria’s oldest domestic carrier Aero Contractors has just suspended scheduled flight services with effect from today September 1, 2016 but the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has dismissed claims that some airlines in Nigeria were shutting operations insisting that the airlines in question merely suspended scheduled flights temporarily as a safety measure. While explaining that Aero Contractors still operates charter services, the Director General of NCAA; Capt. Muhtar Usman Says the airlines were merely embarking on a temporarily suspension of flights to overhaul and strengthen their operations.
