How to Avoid Airlines No-show Fees

I am sure a lot of us who fly frequently may have at one
time or the other paid the no-show fee.
A no-show fee is a surcharge billed a passenger for failure
to show up for his scheduled flight without contacting the airline to cancel
his reservation. The passenger is required by the airline to pay a no-show fee
before he can be rescheduled on another flight.
Have you ever showed up at the check in counter 10 minutes
before your flight time and hear something like
” sorry , you are late for your
flight, check in has closed’’?. That is the truth, check in has closed!
The check in counter for most airlines closes 30 minutes
before the scheduled departure time for domestic flights, 45 minutes before
departure time for regional flight and 90 minutes before departure time for
International flights. So, intending passengers are expected to have checked in
prior to the stipulated time.
If you do not want to incur a no-show fee, ensure you are at
the airport well ahead of time for your flight.
You can also visit the website of your airline for online check
in service .Where it is available, you can check in online and then proceed to the
airport for boarding if you do not have luggage.
Another thing you can do to avoid a no-show fee is to call
your airline to cancel or suspend your ticket if you no longer wish to travel
as scheduled. That way, you can save some money and also enable the airline to sell
the seat. Air travel is involves a lot of planning and airlines loose revenue whenever
a scheduled passenger no-shows on a flight.
So, remember that simple, prompt actions can go a long way
in helping you avoid the no-show fees and consequently avoid being greeted with” sorry , you are late for your
flight, check in has closed’’
