Nigeria to Begin Local Refining of Aviation Fuel Soon

Nigerian Airlines have battled with the scarcity and cost of aviation fuel (JetA1) for too long and finally the Federal Government is beginning to look in the direction of providing a lasting solution to the problem.
The https://newtelegraphonline.com has a story that Government has come up with plans to refine jet A1 locally using one of the local refineries. What that means is that if Kaduna Refinery is dedicated solely for the production of aviation fuel, airlines will be guaranteed steady supply of the product at a cheaper price. What a big relief that would be for airlines especially domestic carriers!
Although addressing the issue of aviation fuel does not take care of all the challenges of Nigerian airlines, it is a step in the right direction. Hopefully, one step at a time, the Nigerian Government will set the aviation industry on the path to survival and profitability.
Kudos to the Federal Government of Nigeria on this laudable decision!

Aero Contractors: Temporary Flight Suspension is a Safety Measure Says NCAA

Nigeria’s oldest domestic carrier Aero Contractors has just suspended scheduled flight services with effect from today September 1, 2016 but the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has dismissed claims that some airlines in Nigeria were shutting operations insisting that the airlines in question merely suspended scheduled flights temporarily as a safety measure. While explaining that Aero Contractors still operates charter services, the Director General of NCAA; Capt. Muhtar Usman Says the airlines were merely embarking on a temporarily suspension of flights to overhaul and strengthen their operations.
