British Airways Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Heathrow due Sick Passenger

britishairways747a.jpgEmergency: the flight from Denver was forced to demand priority landing

A plane belonging to British Airways was forced to make a priority landing at Heathrow on Wednesday morning after a passenger became ill during the flight.
The British Airways flight BA218 from Denver was brought straight in by air traffic controllers, pushing all the waiting planes backwards in the queue.
Reports said the pilots of flight BA218, a Boeing 747, made the priority landing request while flying over the Irish Sea.
The flight was immediately received by medical teams at the terminal when it landed at 11:30am.
A British Airways spokesman said: "The pilots requested medical services to meet the flight, after a customer became unwell on board."
This scenario is common in aviation and it is a safety precaution. For instance,on  July 9, 2016, Delta Airlines Flight 1817 from Atlanta to Denver made an emergency landing Tulsa International Airport after several passengers reported feeling sick on board simultaneously.
