After shutting down flight operations in Nigeria, United Airlines has announced plans to end flight services between New York and Newcastle over fears of the strength of the British pounds following the Brexit vote.
The company said the route was "not profitable" and anticipated an "impact of the weaker pound in UK outbound travel".

United Airlines said flight services between the New York and Newcastle will end on September 6, 2016.
The last departure on the service from Newark will be on September 5, with the final departure from Newcastle to New York on September 6.
Newcastle Airport view the news as "disappointing" but said it does not reflect growing passenger numbers, with new routes recently agreed to places like Berlin and Warsaw.
The pound has lost more than 13% of its value against the US dollar since the UK voted to leave the EU.
So for United Airlines, it is like Lagos Nigeria, like Newcastle and who knows which other route will be the next to be done away with. Thought doing business should come with a form of resilience.
