NCAA Notifies Passengers on Flight Hitches During Harmattan

Murtala Muhammed International Airport

Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has alerted air travellers to brace up for some delays that may be experienced due to harmattan haze expected in most parts of the country.
The apex regulatory body pleaded for understanding of the travelling public, urging them not to be lawless should the situation arise and flights had to be delayed or cancelled.
For safety reasons, NCAA has directed flight crew to adhere strictly to the prescribed weather minima for each of the airports, as violation would be viewed seriously.

Following complaints of alleged ill-treatment by passengers of recent London-Lagos Arik Air flights, the Consumer Protection Council (CPC), has summoned the management of the airline to appear before it to provide facts relating to the allegations.
The summon, which was issued by the Council on Wednesday, called on the airline’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Michael Arumemi-Ikhide, the Chief Operating Officer, Conor Prendergast, and the Managing Director, Chris Ndulue, to appear before the Council on Monday, December 19, 2016.
According to the summon, the Council disclosed that it received “complaints/information from the public and passengers on board Arik Air flights from London to Lagos between December 2 and 5, 2016, alleging that the flights arrived Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, without the passengers’ luggage and without prior information”.

Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers to float new airline
Mr Isaac Balami, President, National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), says the association is considering floating its airline to address the challenge of unemployment among its members.
Balami made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.
He said the national executive of the association had constituted a committee with the aim of setting up a carrier as the members were the ones flying and maintaining the aircraft.
According to him, what is happening is that, we have lost confidence in most of the employers within the industry, even though; some of them are trying their best.
